I made a full report, and told the manager that if this was not resolved in a timely manner that it would be made a public matter. This I’d like to mention was maybe a year or two after the events of 9/11 and people in turbans were getting a lot of hate along with Muslims. We had been spit at, had things thrown at us, and called some remarkably vile names. My closest friends had abandoned me, unable to accept the relationship, and I was being mistreated by his family on a regular basis. I was PISSED and ready to shred something. Calling the local news would have been the kindest thing, and the least likely to result in multiple felonies.
Not long after this I received a follow up letter from corporate telling me that the two associates had been terminated and sensitivity training mandated for the remaining staff. Included was a $100 gift card which I donated to a cat shelter for a fundraiser. I haven’t shopped there since, and not just because the bras can barely hold a teacup. The ubiquitous Victoria’s Secret was at a corner where two main corridors intersect, with wide entrances facing each. The perfume was all set up toward the front, and I could see him on the way to his next 17 pairs of trousers. And so could the staff.
