If you asked me this just two years ago, I wouldn’t have known what to tell you, but now, the answer is clear in that Bangtan is more successful in the West than the East and therefore has more international fans. Obviously they were “discovered” by the West after their win at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, but the biggest influx of fans came after the release of DNA and Love Yourself: Her, which was phenomenal in album sales. By the time the second installment of the series (Love Yourself: Tear) came out, BTS’s physical album sales and social media had exploded, naming them the “biggest boy band in the world”.
