I grasped the English because I was not fighting the needles and the yarn. Crochet just didn’t compute. But the day I sat down and was determined to make a crocheted rug, light bulb! Difference between the two? I think it is the beauty of the fabric when it comes to some designs, such as sweater, afghans, scarfs, gloves, etc, the knitting is my preferred.
I find that knitting also gives these items more physical warmth. With crochet there is a kind of ‘hole’ with every stitch. In my mind, the stitches are sideways. Crochet, you are creating a stitch to join to another stitch to it’s side. Where knitting, you are more weaving the stitches. There is never a smooth surface with crochet. Each stitch is sort of a lump.
