We eventually took off about an hour and a half late. A male flight attendant came back and was talking to us and said “yeah, we were surprised, they were on the flight with us coming here. They warned us, but we did not have any problems”. What???? Something was up, they knew it and were completely unprepared. My wife and I were having problems, mostly over something that was largely my fault but that’s another story. Because of this I couldn’t tell she was having an affair. All the usual signs-emotional distancing, lack of desire for sex, finding fault in me for anything and everything were there but I attributed it all to the problems we were having. But she was always home and I knew where she was, or so I thought.

So when I discovered her affair it totally blindsided me. The way I found out was one night I woke up in the middle of the night, couldn’t fall back to sleep so I got out of bed and turned on my computer. A little while latter I heard what sounded like a cellphone buzzing. Didn’t think too much of it at the time. Later, I went back in the bedroom to get something and I saw her cellphone right on the nightstand where she normally kept it. Since I knew where my phone was I thought “what the hell was that buzzing then”? I searched all over the living room and finally found it-a cell phone I knew nothing about! It wasn’t password protected so I was able to get into it. The was only one phone number saved and it contained text messages going back 5 months.
